Your blog is where you can reach patients before they are ready to book, the patients searching for answers to their questions like "how does EMDR work," "signs you need massage therapy," or "what to expect from your first physiotherapy appointment."
When done well, blog content builds trust, and creates natural paths toward booking. This guide walks you through how to set up your blog index page and individual post page titles, and meta descriptions so every blog post is working for your clinic long after you've published it.
Before you start
You'll need Admin access to your Jane Websites dashboard to make these changes. You'll also need a blog added to your Main Menu navigation, follow this guide to add your Blog to your Main Menu navigation.
How to Set Your Blog Index Page Title
Your blog index page title should signal the topic and location of your content clearly so patients and search engines know what to expect.
- Once you're logged in to Jane Websites, click the pencil icon
in the top left-hand corner, then click Page SEO Settings. - If the fields are blank, click the Generate SEO with AI button to get a helpful starting point, then customize from there.
- In the Page Title field, type your title using one of these formulas:
[Clinic Name] Blog Covering All Things [Main Topics] or [Specialty] Resources & Tips | [Clinic Name].
For example: "Whole Mind Wellness Blog for Mental Health Resources | Ottawa" or "Physiotherapy Tips & Resources from North Vancouver." - Keep your title between 50 and 60 characters.
- Click Save Settings to save your progress.
How to Set Your Blog Index Page Meta Description
Your meta description is the grey text that appears below your title in search results. It is your pitch to someone who has not clicked on your clinic's website yet. Aim for 150–160 characters.
- Once you're logged in to Jane Websites, click the pencil icon
in the top left-hand corner, then click Page SEO Settings. - If the fields are blank, click the Generate SEO with AI button to get a helpful starting point, then customize from there.
- Type your Meta Description using this formula:
[Discover/Explore/Read] [topic 1], [topic 2], and [topic 3] from our [location] [profession] team. [Frequency or value statement].
For example: "Explore trauma recovery, anxiety management, and self-care tips from our Ottawa psychotherapy team. Evidence-based insights for your mental health journey." Keep your description between 150 and 160 characters. - Click Save Settings to save your progress.
How to Set an Individual Blog Post Page Title
Each blog post should target one specific informational search, and look to answer the question a patient types into Google before they are ready to book.
- Once you're logged in to Jane Websites, click the pencil icon
in the top left-hand corner, then click Page SEO Settings. - If the fields are blank, click the Generate SEO with AI button to get a helpful starting point, then customize from there.
- In the Page Title field, type your post title with the keyword at the front.
For example: "5 Signs You Need EMDR Therapy for Trauma | Ottawa Psychotherapy." - Keep your title under 60 characters. You do not always need to include your clinic name — if the topic is already clear, leave it out and use the space for the keyword instead.
- Click Save Settings to save your progress.
How to Set an Individual Blog Post Meta Description
Each blog post needs its own unique meta description that answers the question the post is addressing and gives patients a reason to click through.
- Once you're logged in to Jane Websites, click the pencil icon
in the top left-hand corner, then click Page SEO Settings. - If the fields are blank, click the Generate SEO with AI button to get a helpful starting point, then customize from there.
- Type your description in the Meta Description area using this formula:
[Answer to question or key takeaway]. [Supporting detail]. [Credential or authority signal]. [Optional call to action linking to a related service].
For example: “Learn when EMDR therapy can help process trauma and PTSD. Our registered psychotherapists in Ottawa explain the signs and what to expect from treatment.” - Click Save Settings to save your progress.
Nice work! Your blog pages are now set up to attract patients through search and guide them toward booking. Every post you publish with a strong title and description builds on the last. Over time, your blog can become a valuable source of new patient traffic.
Note
Every blog post needs its own unique meta title and description. Reusing the same description across multiple posts signals duplicate content to Google and reduces the visibility of each individual post.
